Both novels, though uniquely different, offer a fearless exposé of the world we live in. Jaap Robben’s You Have Me to Love follows young Mikael, who lives on a small remote island with his parents, but life changes drastically when his father disappears in the sea. Thirty Days by Annelies Verbeke follows Alphonse, a handyman and Senegalese immigrant, as he visits his clients who seek not only is professional, but also his personal advice.
