The Irish Times reviews Thirty Days: ‘Alphonse and the human face of Flanders’

Eileen Battersby has reviewed Thirty Days by Annelies Verbeke for The Irish Times.

In this praising review, the novel is described as: ‘It is not only a European book, it is a fearless exposé of the world we live in and how we live.’

Battersby does not only praise Annelies Verbeke, but she also commends translator Liz Waters: ‘It is a bravura performance, engagingly translated by Liz Waters, who conveys the rhythms and mood shifts with impressive ease. Waters is particularly good with the dialogue, which is consistently true to the respective characters.’
