Watch ‘British Jews, German Passports’ on BBC 1 —with a connection to author Jaap Robben

Tonight BBC1 (22:45) will air a fascinating documentary ‘British Jews, German passports’. After Brexit some Brits have applied for dual nationality, but descendants of Jews who fled Nazi Germany feel a painful dilemma about taking German citizenship. This film follows three British Jews as they come to this emotional as well as bureaucratic decision.

One of the British Jews in ‘British Jews, German Passports’ is a grandson of Jaap Robben‘s great grandfather’s brother. Jaap Robben’s great grandfather fled to the Netherlands during World War II, and thankfully survived. Robben still uses his great grandfather’s desk to write.

You can watch the full documentary on BBC 1. The programme will also be available after broadcast here.
