World Editions is currently looking for a talented, upbeat US Director in New York. We are an international, Amsterdam and London-based publisher of (mostly) fiction in translation, and expanding our business into the US.
You will plan, create, oversee and manage our US publicity and marketing campaigns. You will liaise with our US distributor, booksellers and reviewers, literary festival directors and authors.
You are able to think strategically, tactically, and creatively in developing and implementing publicity and marketing campaigns; you will have 5+ years of experience in book publishing in a similar role and possess excellent planning and organizing skills.
You are highly flexible, outgoing and an enthusiastic go-getter. You are aware of publishing trends and cultural trends in general. You are also a strong networker and an outstanding communicator, able to speak in public at book presentations and promotional events, and to pitch our books at sales conferences. As a native speaker of English with excellent copywriting skills and a practical knowledge of social media, you will be World Editions’ US ambassador, the public face of our publishing house in New York.
You will be part of a small team and will receive daily support, requests, and input from the PR and Sales Director based in the Netherlands, to whom you will report back and with whom you will share knowledge and information. In addition, there will be frequent contact with the Publishing Director, also based in the Netherlands. You will discuss publicity, marketing plans, and campaigns with them – through email, phone, and video calls.
The position will open up in February 2018 on a part-time basis for the first 6 months, but will soon grow into a full-time position. Negotiable salary commensurate with experience.
